Quotes to get me through 2018

Hello,

Welcome back and a happy Friday, I hope you’ve had a good day no matter what you’ve done whether that be at school, work Uni, or spent the day running errands. Who’s excited for the weekend? Does anyone have any cool plans?

Today I thought I would share some quotes that I plan on keeping throughout this year, if you follow my Instagram you would have noticed that I have been uploading quotes every morning and you seem to appreciate the motivation and the inspiration. If you don’t follow my Instagram, you should. Right now I have a rose gold theme going on so all my quotes look super cute. If you’re interested in checking it out I’ll leave a link for you here.

To start of the quotes my first one is: “Be different babe”.

This is on my quotes list because for so long I believed that being different was wrong, that standing out was something not to be done and standing up for what you believe is a stupid idea. Now though, I love being different, I love standing out, it makes people remember your name, standing up for what I believe in isn’t a stupid idea, it should be encouraged. So be the black sheep of your friends, if they don’t support you, go ahead and create a new flock.

My second quote is from the famous J.K. Rowling, so you know it’s going to be good. My second quote is: “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”.

I have bad days a lot, sometimes bad weeks where everything feels lost and I have no hope that things will get better. I let that darkness consume me. All I have to do is flick that switch and let the light come in, only then will I see the other end of it, only then will I see that things can and will improve. I think that’s an important reminder for everyone. You just need to pluck up the courage to find that switch.

My third quote is something that I never truly thought about until I read it, and since then my whole perspective has changed. My third quote is: “Rome was built on ruins and it is quite breath-taking; What makes you think you can’t be too?”

Doesn’t this quote just hit the nail in the head? I haven’t read anything like this before and it truly made my brain tick. I would see my body covered in scars and marks and think how ugly it is, how no-one could ever like the way it looks and to be honest, I sometimes still get those feelings. Rome used to be scarred, marked and ugly, but people worked on it, saw the potential it had and made it was it is today, so if I work on myself and see the potential I could fall in love with the way I look.

My fourth quote relates to so many of us, we are all a little guilty. My fourth quote is: “Post your selfie for YOU. Doll up for YOU. Take naps for YOU. Eat good for YOU. Make YOU happy. Who the fuck are “they”? “

I know I’m not the only one who thinks too much about what others say or might say about me. I over think every decision, just incase someone has something bad to say. But, when you truly think about it, those people mean nothing, if they put you down, bin them off because why do you need that negativity around you? At the end of the day, someone somewhere is always going to have something to say, so why not give them something to talk about. You’re not meant to please everyone anyway, because that lifestyle is boring.

My fifth quote is something I should have read years ago. It’s a little long but the message is powerful. My fifth quote is: “Anyone can hold a grudge, but it takes character to forgive. When you forgive, you release yourself from a painful burden. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay, and it doesn’t mean that person should still be welcome in your life. It just means you have had peace with the pain, and are ready to let it go”.

This quote really hit home with me, for so long I have held a grudge against someone and I had every right too, they hurt me in a way I never thought I would go through. For four years I spent so much time feeling anger, sorrow, guilt and pure hatred towards them, that is a long time to hold onto that and it ended up hurting me more then it should have. I don’t forgive him for what he did and truth be told I don’t think I ever will, he doesn’t deserve forgiveness, but I have come to peace with the pain it caused and I plan on moving forward without this in my way. I have also forgiven someone who was vile, someone who spread vicious rumours about me for their own gain, whether the believe me or not, I don’t really care. They did what they did and it’s time to move on, they’re now irrelevant anyway.

My sixth quote is: “Dreams don’t work unless you do”.

In simple terms, it’s me telling myself to work towards my dreams because they don’t magically happen. If I want to achieve something, I can’t wait for it to be handed out on a plate, I need to go out there and grab it.

My seventh quote is very similar to my sixth quote, they sort of go together. My seventh quote is: “Get your shit together”.

Can you see why I said they go together? To achieve my dreams I need to get my shit together, I need to plan how I am going to achieve them, I have to put work in and 110% effort otherwise it just doesn’t work. I need to stop sitting around and doing thing by half, it’s all or nothing.

My final quote is a good one, not that these haven’t been good. This is a quote from Virginia Woolf. My eighth quote is: “You cannot find peace by avoiding life”.

I don’t really have an explanation as to why this is on my list, I just really like this quote. It says so much by saying so little.

Well my loves, that ends my quotes that will get me through 2018. I’d love to know which quote you liked the most. Thank you for reading, if you enjoyed this post, leave a like and a comment. If you really enjoyed this post why not share with your friends and social media, maybe one of these will inspire or motivate someone.

Have a wonderful evening and I will see you tomorrow for a new post.

Love,

A x

  1. We have really loved watching these posts on Instagram, and the rose gold theme is so pretty! So many of these hit home and made me think. The one about forgiveness especially stood out because it is one of the hardest but most important things to do for yourSELF. I am still working on it, too. Great post! – Gabriella
